As the saying goes, “Nothing succeeds like the appearance of success.” There is also another saying that goes, "First impression counts."

And I agree with both statements that yes, whether we are meeting our teachers, our future job employers or even meeting up with friends, there is always a proper dress code to it, but it depends on how one interprets it.

"The clothes you wear -- and they don't need to be expensive -- say a lot about your discipline, taste and social poise." taken from the second article that Miss Lie provided, is also what I strongly believe in.

So, in light of the controversy surrounding this issue, should people be judged by their appearance?

That depends. If the outfit cosen by the person is fairly acceptable, then we should not judge that person by his/her appearances.

For example, if one is going for an interview for a part time job at Toys'R'Us, she may dress in a skirt and a simple top, and when she steps out of Toys'R'Us, people may judge from her outfit that she had just shopped at the store. That, they should not judge based on her outfit.

If one dress in jeans which have faded in colour and a pair of old sneakers with a yellowish top for the interview, that I might agree that the person should be judged by his/her apperance.

However, I believe it is very natural for us to judge people based on their outfit. So long as we do not blurt something hurtful out, which ever impression we have on the person, should be kept to ourselves.
